The phrase “snap it up” is instantly recognisable as indicating an opportunity not to be missed!!

We applied for and were granted the European trademark for “Snap It Up” for all internet sales and advertising and auctions in all of the countries in the European Union.

Snapitup Ltd trading as www.snapitup.com has been set up as an online business that allows Irish businesses and the general public to easily post their products and services on the site. It gives the online user easy access to dispose of quickly and purchase any items from the comfort of their own home, work, or play 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our new “iPhone Compatability” whilst not officially launched has just been made functional which allows even more users to use the site whilst on the move.

The website functionality includes a fully operational auction site where customers can register and hold their own accounts and sell and purchase as members. The website also contains a classified section where customers can advertise items for sale.  The site offers secure registration, login details, automated email notification, and ghost bidding for all auctions.  All ads can be posted via Pay-Pal, the most secure of all electronic payment facilities. At present all ads are free so no need for Pay Pal registration for now.

Background

Since the beginning of the economic downturn we began developing a prototype site. In September 2009 we carried out market research for SNAPITUP.COM via our prototype website on National Television (TV3) and the initial response encouraged us to invest and develop a fully functional finished product. Thanks to the help of professional project managers, significant live testing and sound advice we rolled out our current site for business in early October 2010.

The site is aimed at hundreds of thousands of potential participators principally across Ireland, UK and the entire European Union who might find this site attractive to trade on.  We hope to create a synergy of common purpose for traders (both companies and individuals) who prior to this may not have ready access to a large web based market.

The goal of Snapitup.com is to capture a share of the online auction sales in Ireland.  This together with our ancillary classified ads section; we will be Ireland’s first Irish owned and developed online “one stop shop”.   It is envisaged that in time we will also be able to provide a market place for those wishing to acquire goods or stock internationally.

In the current climate people have become very aware of the need to look for value; and more people are looking for this on line. Ireland is currently ranked 9th in the World for on line buyers and 90% of all Irish consumers believe that they can save money by buying on line.

On October 5th 2010 our website officially launched. Since that date we have attracted over 3000 visits to the site with over 2000 unique first time visitors which is very encouraging. We are registered on the social networking sites of both Facebook and Twitter along with others and are currently interacting with both friends and business through these forums. On Facebook alone we currently have 1800 listed friends and growing daily.

Having secured both the “dot com” and “dot i.e.” & the European Trade Mark we feel that our brand can not alone compete, but has the potential to expand to further ranging fields if those avenues become available. We feel the brand “Snapitup” has the potential to succeed and bring a success story out of the current doom and gloom that we hear on a daily basis.

The site is very easy to use, registration and placing an ad is very straight forward to do. Whilst at this site the site is in a modest state in relation to ads currently on view, we hope to build the numbers up each day. We have secured a few companies who are about to post ads so in the coming weeks there will be more and more to see. The site is geared at being consumer friendly and easy to use. Also all ads are free to post at present so it gives people a chance to play around with the site with no obligations.

SnapitUp.com offices are based at Ballinterry, Rathcormac, County Cork, Ireland.

Two members of the same county Cork family, Patrick and James Manley recognised the potential of this phrase for the smart economy in Ireland. James Manley, an Auctioneer who was based in the Rathcormac/Fermoy area for many years brings his expertise of selling and customer interaction to the table. Their cousin Paddy who has many years of Customer Service and Sales knowledge is the man behind the keyboard dealing with queries and developments.
